Spider-Man, the "adjectiveless" Spider-Man, as the title began to be known as, was began in August of 1990 with a HUGE printing that saw several different versions of the number one issue. There was the (regular) Green cover, the Black (or Silver) cover, Bagged versions of each, and then a Gold second printing, with Platinum  and Chromium covers to follow. The series featured the talent of former Amazing Spider-Man artist Todd McFarlane, who drew and  wrote issues #1-14 and 16. These issues are much sought after in the collector and reader arena, but there are many issues to go around. There was plenty of talent to follow after McFarlane left, with Erik Larsen, Howard Mackie, Tom Lyle, John Romita JR., and many more as creative teams. Spider-Man was considered the "fourth" title, following Amazing Spider-Man, Spectacular Spider-Man, and Web Of Spider-Man. The title took on somewhat of a change as issue #75 also added Peter Parker to the title. This was important at the time, as it indicated the end of the infamous clone saga, and the beginning of a new era. The first volume ended with issue #98, then a re-boot took place, beginning with a new #1 two months later. Dual-numbering began with Volume 2 #30, also indicating a #128 along with the second volume number.
