Marvel Team-Up began in March of 1972 as Marvel's answer to DC Comics Brave & Bold (which had Batman team-up with a different character each month)...Of course, they took their top star and put him in a similar feature: Spider-Man, but Spider-Man was not the only featured character being teamed-up with every month as the Human Torch had a number of features as well, and the Hulk had a few much later on ...It was a very popular title throughout it's very long and successful run in it's first volume which ended in June of 1985, so popular that Marvel published another team-up title for a 100 issue run: Marvel Two-In-One featuring Thing team-ups ...Marvel Team-Up turned out to be Spider-Man's second on-going title and was very significant if just for that, but many characters have been introduced in this title as well including Captain Jean DeWolff, Karma, The Wraith, Basilisk, Stegron, Kulan Gath, Professor Power, and others...There were also very memorable storylines in Marvel Team-Up's long run including The Dark Rider 4 parter in issues #41-44, The Wraith storyline in #48-51, The Not Ready For Prime Time Players (from Saturday Night Live) in #74, the Mary Jane Watson as Red Sonja story in #79, the Aunt May team-up in #137, any of the Chris Claremont/ John Byrne issues, and others...Issue #150 was the end of the line for MTU as a new title took it's place just 2 months later: Web Of Spider-Man...MTU was later revived after 10 years, but only lasted 12 issues and Spider-Man was replaced as lead feature by the Submariner in issues #8-12...Also, just before the second volume began, a quarterly title, Spider-Man Team-Up, was published for 7 issues...Marvel Team-Up has always been an extremely enjoyable title and hopefully it will be revived yet again!
