| Spencer Smythe slowly turned to crime after each failure in trying to defeat Spider-Man...Each Spider-Slayer was stronger and stronger as Spidey had a harder time beating each successive one...But beat them he did!...Smythe also had a growing hatred of J. Jonah Jameson that compared to that of Spider-Man's. |  |

His hatred reached its peak when he captured both Spidey & J.J.J. and shackled them together with a bomb set to go off in 24 hours...Spidey used liquid oxygen to freeze the mechanism and they were freed, but not Spencer, he died from a result of Radiation Poisoning from overexposure to materials he used in creating the Spider-Slayers. |
