Brief History
| Little is known of the Spider-Wasp named Shathra. All that is known is that, after a battle with the mystical villain Shade, an entity detected Spider-man's presence in the Astral Plane. She/it followed him into this dimension. Spider-Wasps are a spider's natural enemy, they kill the spider and lay their eggs in the carcass for food. She first had a simple battle with Spider-man in Amazing Spider-Man #487, then after failing to kill him, she went to the Daily Bugle and sold a lie of her having a two year love affair with the webbed one. This REALLY ticked off Peter as he had just split up with Mary-Jane, and had trouble convincing her that the woman named "Sharon" was lying all over the television tabloid shows. |
| Next issue, the two then had a much larger battle after Spider-Man confronted "Sharon" on the set of a television show. The battle ended up with Spider-Man badly wounded after being hit with the Spider Wasp's sting. The mysterious character named Ezekiel came to Peter's help in Amazing Spider-Man #489 and took him to the African country Ghana, where a Spider Temple resided. This is where stories of the first "Spider-Man", known as Anansi, originated. It was only a matter of time before Shathra located Peter to have a battle to the death. Up against the decision on whether to kill or be killed, Peter had some help from the countless spiders that inhabited the temple, and they seemingly killed her. |
