Web Of Spider-Man #119

1st Appearance of Kaine.

Kaine's early history can be seen in the pages of the mini-series The Lost Years and Redemption which take place between the original clone saga that ended in Amazing Spider-Man #151  and the re-emergence of Ben Reilly in New York City...Highlighted is the clash between "brothers" Kaine and Ben Reilly and the slow degeneration process of Kaine while a Detective named Jacob Raven begins his search for the killer of his partner Lousie Kennedy, who Kaine murdered...The Detective's search for those who displayed "The Mark of Kaine" was on.

After Ben Reilly came back to New York City, Kaine soon discovered this and he too came to the Big Apple...It was his intentions to keep Ben away from Peter Parker and his wife Mary Jane so that they may live a happy life without the knowledge that he has a "brother" out there...After visions of Mary Jane dying, he captured her and eventually fought just about everyone involved in the clone saga including reluctantly battling Spider-Man himself...He went on to kill Spider-Man villains the Grim Hunter and then Doctor Octopus, but as we know, Doc Ock came back from the dead miraculously.

Peter Parker (Then Ben Reilly taking his place) went to prison for crimes that Kaine was responsible for due to the fact they had the same fingerprints...Kaine reluctantly gave himself up after Peter prepared to expose himself as Spider-Man in court and we learned exactly who Kaine was at the moment: Another clone of Peter Parker!...In Spider-Man #61 we learned that he was degenerating due to a flaw in the cloning process...In Spectacular Spider-Man #227 Kaine was seemingly killed by being impaled by Spidercide.

Kaine was eventually brought back to life after being revived in a regeneration pod and he was on the loose again...He went on to battle more Spider-Man villains such as the Rhino, Stunner, and Joystick among others...He even allied himself with Ben but it was short-lived and he turned on him once again but eventually turned himself over to the police...After the clone saga, Kaine has made very few appearance such as in Amazing Spider-Man #435 where he fought some Scriers and in Thunderbolts '97 Annual where he and a number of villains were set free and then returned to the Vault, a prison for super villains...Kaine is out there somewhere!
