Origin: The idea of the group known as the Jury was conjured up by Mr. Orwell Taylor, a man of vast resources. Orwell's son Hugh Taylor was killed by Venom while Hugh was working as a guard at the super prison known as the Vault in Amazing Spider-Man #315. He formed the Jury from a group of Vault guards to act as a vigilante organization that hunts and captures villains to put them on "trial".  Venom of course was the first!

The Jury is can be summed up best as an organization of armored vigilantes dedicated to hunting down villains and putting them on "trial". Mr. Orwell Taylor was the father of this group with the impetus being the killing of his son Hugh by Venom. The group's first job was to hunt Venom down, but Venom got away. Who better to go after next than Spider-Man? Well they do in Amazing Spider-Man #383-385, where Spidey was tried for bringing Venom into this world. In the end, Spider-Man defeats the Jury, but that's not the last we see of the Jury. In the Arachnis Project limited series, the Jury battle many including Spider-Man again as well as the Dreadnaughts, but more importantly they revolt and leave Mr. Taylor.

Jury member Screech, the son of Taylor, named Max eventually quits and becomes somewhat of the team's representative. He is replaced by a woman by the name of Jennifer Stewart, and she become the newest member Wysper. Her husband was murdered by Tarantula II, while both her and her husband were both guards at the Vault  prison, but she avenged his death by breaking the Tarantula II's neck in Venom: Sinner Takes All #3. Next, the Jury was seen in a three part backup story in Venom: The Hunted #1-3 where they battle Hybrid and the New Warriors. Most recently, they appeared in three issues of Thunderbolts, #23, #28, and #32. In those issues, they create an alliance with US Agent and end up both battling against and alongside the Thunderbolts.
