2/74 Amazing Spider-Man #129 1st Appearance of the Jackal & first battle with Spider-Man. |
| Miles Warren was introduced way back in Amazing Spider-Man #31 and nobody would have ever thought that the Professor would ever become one of Spider-Man's deadliest enemies...Early in his career, the Jackal was pretty low on Spider-Man's list of villains...Ever since his introduction in Amazing Spider-Man #129, he first worked with the Punisher, then Hammerhead, then the new Spider-Villain Grizzly...He seemed like just another lightweight that Spider-Man shouldn't even give him a second thought...But that would soon change. | ![]() |

A clone of Gwen Stacy came on the scene in Amazing Spider-Man #144 and it was the Jackal who was her creator...Miles has worked with the Master Geneticist the High Evolutionary in the past and learned many things...If the Jackal could create a clone of Gwen Stacy couldn't he clone anyone else? The answer for Peter Parker is a resounding yes!...Amazing Spider-Man #149 is the highlight of the first clone saga and it had Spider-Man battle a clone of himself...The clone was seemingly killed and Spider-Man dropped the body in a smokestack...The Jackal at the scene also died but was later discovered to be just a clone of him...Spider-Man had Dr. Curt Connors, better known as the Lizard run tests to see if he was the true Spider-Man but he threw them away convinced that he was the real deal...Maybe he should have kept them papers! |
| When the clone of Spider-Man, now named Ben Reilly, came back into Peter's life, the Jackal couldn't be far behind...Many battles ensue with many mind games as to who is the real Peter Parker...The Jackal eventually plans to populate the world with nothing but clones and plans on using his Carrion Virus in helping him achieve this goal...This is the same Carrion Virus that created the powers of the villain Carrion that was introduced in Spectacular Spider-Man #25 which was a clone of Miles Warren and was responsible for the creation of two more Carrions...The Jackal was out of control! | ![]() |

The storyline Maximum Clonage set the stage for the Jackal's master plan...All his creations were involved in one way or another: Ben, Kaine, Spidercide, and the Gwen Stacy clone were part of his plan but the plan fell short of being a success...Scrier wanted to prevent the Jackal in succeeding as he was looking after the Jackal for his employer Norman Osborn who was later revealed to be the Mastermind of the clone saga and was using the Jackal as a pawn...In the end though the Jackal apparently fell to his death in Maximum Clonage Omega but you get the feeling that this villain, that is now near the top of Spider-Man's list of enemies, will return at some point in time! |
