Harry Osborn has always been close friends of Peter Parker's ever since the time they met in college in Amazing Spider-Man #31,  but then there was Harry's father Norman who was anything but friendly with Peter as the Green Goblin and blamed him for Harry's problems with drugs that was played out in Amazing Spider-Man #96-98 and again later in the issues leading up to and including the infamous #121 & 122 which saw the "death" of Norman and the first Green Goblin...Harry removed the costume from his father after he died.

Harry went through a period of shock after the death of his father...He soon started to blame Spider-Man for the death of his father and started to think that his roommate, Peter Parker was involved somehow. It wasn't until Amazing Spider-Man #126 that he decided to become the next Green Goblin and then #135 he discovered that his roomy was Spider-Man after finding his costume in one of Peter's dresser drawers...Green Goblin II was born and he was intent on killing Spider-Man/ Peter Parker...After coming up short in his quest, he started to get help for his sickness.

Part of this help came in the form of a Psychiatrist named Bart Hamilton who would go on to become the third Green Goblin after long talks with Harry...There was the inevitable showdown in Amazing Spider-Man #180 where Hamilton died...Not much  was seen of the second Green Goblin but has been both a foe and ally of Spider-Man over the years as well as an ally of the Molten Man and others...Harry went on to have a son, Normy, named after his father with his wife Liz Allen Osborn. A memorable battle Occurred in Amazing Spider-Man #312 where he went head to head with the goblin-like Hobgoblin.

Peter and Harry were always friends though through all they been through, which was alot...You just have to be great friends if every now and then he wants to kill you due to a sickness!...Harry came back as the Green Goblin in the very memorable Spectacular Spider-Man #'s 180-184 in the Child Within storyline and even played a part in bringing back Peter's parents in the form of humanoid like constructs in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man. In Spectacular Spider-Man #200 Harry died to a new Goblin  formula being too toxic and destroyed him from within, but right before he died, Harry went back into an bear exploding building & saved Peter...When asked why he did it, Harry's last word were "You're my best friend".
