Name: Carl "Crusher" Creel ID: Known Relatives: Husband of the Villainess Titania. Affiliates: Former Agent of Loki, Former member of the Masters Of Evil IV. Enemies: Thor, Hulk, Avengers, Spider-Man, Quasar, Dazzler. Powers: The Absorbing Man possesses the ability to take on the properties, and height, width, etc. of anything he may come in contact with...Metal, Glass, Stone, and so on...He can re-assemble himself over time if broken up...His strength level varies on the property that he takes on, so he can be nearly as strong as the Hulk...."Crusher" also has a Ball & Chain that has the same properties of transformation as he does and uses that as a weapon. Origin: Crusher, a former prison inmate, is a creation of Loki, the Norse god of mischief...The source of his powers are magical in nature and derived from a potion composed of rare Asgardian herbs which were added to Creel's drinking water...Creel was granted his great powers in exchange for trying to defeat Thor. |

Brief History

Amazing Spider-Man #283...The first meeting
Crusher (Along with Titania) and Spidey in Spider-Man's own title as they
were both featured in the Secret Wars Mini-Series...It wasn't to be
their last meeting though...A Two part storyline which begun in Thor
#447 was a battle-fest and also included a rare appearance by Spidey in
Thor's title.

The storyline concluded in Thor #448 which also included Titania...Thor has fought The Absorbing Man more than any other hero in the Marvel Universe with many appearances in Journey Into Mystery and Thor...The most recent meeting between Spidey and Crusher has been ion the pages of Amazing Spider-Man #429...The Absorbing Man has been one of those Marvel Villains that NEVER seem to go away!
