I bet you never thought you'd see the villain by the name of the Headsman again! The villain that was introduced working for Norman Osborn back in Untold Tales Of Spider-Man #8 when he had his power pack on his back destroyed by Spider-Man, is back 10 issue later, and is he mad! But what will happen to the Headsman? Will he run away again like he did previously? Will he go to prison? Will he turn good? Read on and we shall see.

The action begins right out of the bag, as Spider-Man, in Mid-Manhattan, has his spider-sense go off. He turns around and is surprised to see none other than the Headsman. The Headsman chops away at Spider-Man with his energized battle ax and misses, as Spider-Man dodges his attempt at decapitating the web-head. Spider-Man remembers the Headsman from before, when he was working with the Enforcers back in Untold Tales Of Spider-Man #8. Unknown to Spider-Man was that the Headsman was working for Norman Osborn, before he became the Green Goblin. This battle is gonna be a lot tougher for Spider-Man, since the Headsman does not depend on a power pack for his battle ax anymore. Spider-Man webs up the Headsman, who easily cuts through it with his ax and then goes after Spider-Man, who falls off a roof. Spider-Man fakes falling to his death by creating a web-cushion under rocky debris while falling, and the Headsman buys it. Spider-Man then busts through the building he is by after he fell and he changes into Peter Parker.

Out on the street as a normal citizen, Peter meets Daily Bugle secretary Betty Brant for their date they have planned. They run into Liz Allan and Flash Thompson and end up eating together. It is obvious how Betty feels very insignificant when compared to Liz and is very cold towards her. Peter and Liz where the only ones talking during their meal. Peter takes Betty home and then goes out swinging again as Spider-Man. While out, he comes upon an expensive fur robbery and takes care of the robbers very easily. At the same time, the Headsman is in the presence of gang leader Lucky Lobo, who makes his first chronological appearance, with his true 1st appearance being in Amazing Spider-Man #23. The Headsman tells Lucky that he just killed Spider-Man, and just as Lucky offers the Headsman a position in his mob, one of Lucky's informants alerts him that Spider-Man just took down one of his fur robberies downtown. Lucky is not pleased with the Headsman at this point, and the Headsman is angered so much by the news that he cuts Lobo's desk in half with his ax, and sets off to find Spider-Man. After the Headsman leaves, a voice comes out of nowhere saying that he will take the Headsman out of his hair, and maybe Spider-Man too. Who is this person? Well, all the reader gets to see is a shadowy figure of someone who looks uncannily like the Green Goblin. This can viewed as the first meeting between these two as their relationship is played out much more in Amazing Spider-Man #23. Lobo agrees with the "voice" and agrees to see how things work out.

The next day at Midtown High, Flash wants to make a good impression on Liz and takes her to see Spider-Man in action. Peter feels like helping Flash would help make Liz more interested in Flash and not Peter, so he changes into Spider-Man and bounces on Flash's car. Unfortunately for Spider-Man, where he bounced into, could have been a better place! The Headsman just happened to be right in his way and just misses Spider-Man by a hair with his powerful ax. Spider-Man then swings away with the Headsman following him, along with Flash and Liz. Spidey and the Headsman come crashing through a window as they continue their battle in some artist's apartment. To protect the innocent bystanders watching the fight, Spider-Man creates a sling-shot with his webbing and shoots the Headsman out if the window far away. When the Headsman attempts to go back into the apartment to continue his battle with Spider-Man, a familiar sound calls out to the Headsman. It's none other than the Green Goblin, who last appeared chronologically in Amazing Spider-Man #14. The Headsman failed the Green Goblin in the past (See Untold Tales Of Spider-Man #8), and the Goblin wants to put an end to his blunderings. The Goblin turns a dial, creating a great electrical shock to the system of the Headsman, from his costume. The Goblin (Norman Osborn) was the one who devised the Headsman powers, so he also created a failsafe in it as well.

When Spider-Man comes out of the apartment, he finds the Headsman on the ground barely alive. He has no idea how he wound up there, or who was responsible for it. After Spider-Man changes back to Peter Parker, he overhears Flash Thompson saying that Spider-Man deserves a fan-club. Peter responds to Flash that maybe he should start one, and that he does in Amazing Spider-Man #17.

Another excellent issue that adds to the legend of the Green Goblin. The Goblin appears chronologically in Amazing Spider-Man #17, where he makes a shambles of Flash's first Spider-Man fan-club meeting battling both Spider-Man and the Human Torch. As for the Headsman, he has yet to make another appearance.
