| This era of Spider-Man's life featured a couple of great young artists at the time, the first of which is Todd McFarlane...Fresh from a long stint on the Incredible Hulk, Todd brought a very popular style with him to the pages of Amazing Spider-Man which were very unique and many times imitated. He lasted quite a long time until he went on the begin what was to be the 4th on-going Spider-Man title at that current time simply titled Spider-Man...He went on to draw and write that title for 16 issues before moving on with several other creators to create their comic company named Image Comics. Spider-Man was arguably at the height of his Comic career with 4 main-stream titles and a reprint title Marvel Tales as well as many guest appearances in other titles. |

The 3 titles at the time shared a number of memorable storylines including The Assassin Nation Plot, Return of Sineater, Return of Venom, Tombstone's Origin, Acts of Vengeance where Spidey went up against foes he has none or very little experience against, and the Cosmic Spider-Man storyline where Spidey receives Cosmic Powers from Captain Universe for a short period of time. The titles also had its share of great battles for Spidey such as against Venom, Chameleon, Styx & Stone, Mysterio, Lizard, Hydro-Man, Rhino, Scorpion, Sabretooth, Magneto, Tarantula, Hobgoblin, Puma, Carrion, Electro, Trapster, & Others...Next we look at the continuation of the "Image Era" with another Image Co-Founder, Erik Larsen and the introduction of another Symbiote that will eventually even scare Venom himself ! |
